Maligne Lake Wedding Inspiration in Jasper National Park

Looking to get married in Jasper National Park but not quite sure where to hold your ceremony or reception?

Check out this beautiful adventure themed wedding held at the Maligne Lake Chalet, for inspiration for your intimate wedding in Jasper National Park.

Cayla and Trevor love the mountains, and travelling. So what better than to combine the two, in the midst of fall in Jasper National Park?

Jasper is often looked over by it's big brother of Banff National Park, but if you were to ask me, Jasper is way better for it's quieter, less populated nature, same beautiful vistas and mountain lakes.

Things to consider if you might want to book your wedding at the Maligne Lake Chalet and Guesthouse in Jasper National Park:

  1. Maligne Lake is almost an hour drive from the Jasper townsite, and is susceptible to variable road conditions due to the high elevation. In the winter, the chalet is generally closed due to snow.

  2. There is parking at Maligne Lake, but consider hiring a shuttle for wedding guests from town as there is no lodging at Maligne Lake.

  3. Lot’s of times people think of Spirit Island when they think of Maligne Lake, but you must take a boat to reach Spirit Island. So if you want wedding photos at Spirit Island, make sure you factor in the boat tour to your day.

  4. Make sure your photographer is licensed and insured to work within Jasper National Park! I would love to capture your love story for you if you are looking for a Jasper wedding photographer!

The Maligne Lake Chalet Wedding Venue

The outside of Maligne Lake Chalet

Maligne Lake Chalet is operated by Pursuit, but offers the only wedding and reception area at Maligne Lake. This rustic and historic building, along with it's guesthouse, offers a beautiful location for guests and couple’s alike.

For Cayla and Trevor, they did most of their getting ready in the town of Jasper at their accommadation, then took the available shuttle and had the option of driving to the guesthouse and the Chalet, where they set up their decorations, and Cayla finished getting ready with her bridesmaids and family in the guesthouse.

Their love for adventure and the many places that they have visited together remained the forefront of their wedding, and felt right at home in the mountain venue.

While the weather tried to put a damper on the day with a fairly consistent drizzle of rain and almost freezing temperatures, everyone still pushed forth for the outdoor ceremony, and what a beautiful ceremony it was at this Jasper Wedding Venue!

With the ceremony officiated by a family friend, and everyone else with an umbrella in hand, Cayla and Trevor were married at Maligne Lake Chalet.

After a bunch of laughs, and quite a few tears, Cayla and Trevor were announced as husband and wife! We made sure to get all the family portraits while there was a slight break in the rain, before moving on to take the couple’s wedding photos around the edge of Maligne Lake and in front of the boat house. At one point, the sun even tried peaking through!

Heading inside the chalet where it was both dry and warm, the wedding moved forward with speeches, a delicious supper catered by the chalet, then a spectacularly choreographed first dance. The day could not have been more perfect for these two!
