Jasper Helicopter Elopement in the Canadian Rockies Inspiration with Jasper- Hinton Air

Considering a helicopter elopement in Jasper but don’t know where to start?

Start here!

How to Plan a Helicopter Elopement

First off, think of what would be you and your partner’s best day ever. What would you do first thing in the morning? Where would you be? Who, if anyone else, would be with you?

I'll be showcasing my clients’, Kat and Des, and their September helicopter elopement with Jasper-Hinton Air, to help demonstrate a perfectly designed adventure elopement, that was customized completely to feel perfect to them.

A Morning-of Helicopter Elopement Itinerary

Imagine waking up in a cozy cabin in the mountains next to the love that you are going to get married to today. You wake up leisurely, start cooking yourselves breakfast, the coffee pot on and a morning mimosa in hand.

About ten o’clock, your hair and makeup artist shows up at your door, getting you ready in the comfort of your pj’s and the cozy cabin, not having to leave for the outdoors once, chatting with your partner like it's any other beautiful morning.

Just as your Hair and Makeup Artist is doing her final touches, your adventure elopement photographer shows up to start capturing your love story for the day, including the little details you brought, like your vow books, rings, special Scotch the two of you picked out just for today, and a very sentimental quilt.

Take a little bit to relax with a hot cup of coffee before getting into your wedding attire and getting ready to go on one of the best experiences of your life!

Imagine getting ready with your partner, having them help you get into your dress or suit, watching their face light up when they see you in your wedding attire.

Then, if you’re anything like Kat and Des, you get to argue about which socks you should be wearing on your wedding day! ahahha. then help with tying up laces, and getting the backpack all ready with stuff to go, before taking a walk around the lodging site to see some beautiful views, and getting loaded up in your truck to go for a beautiful 45 minute drive through the stunning Canadian Rockies to your awaiting helicopter.

The Helicopter Wedding Itinerary

About 45 minutes east of Jasper, basically just outside of the park gates, a little ways down a gravel road, you will find Jasper-Hinton Air.

The location of the helicopter company is nothing special, but don’t let that fool you. The locations that they can take you to and fly you over are absolutely surreal, remote, and stunning.

After signing your liability waivers and such inside, it's much easier to do most of your marriage paperwork with your officiant before getting in the helicopter, and for Kat and Des, it was the perfect choice! The wind was absolutely insane at the location that we landed, and it certainly would have made signing the marriage documents interesting!

Once everyone was ready to go, we headed out the door to the waiting helicopter, received a safety briefing from our pilot Kristy, before loading in the helicopter and taking off!!

Our pilot took us over some breathtaking views of the Canadian Rockies, dipping in to Jasper National Park, before landing just outside of the park, as they aren’t allowed to land within the park. The original landing location of Folding Mountain wasn’t favorable due to the winds and the weather, so instead we got this banger of a wedding location!

The wind was cold, but we were given ample warning about it beforehand to prepare. So Kat and Des led the way to their perfect ceremony location, and their officiant and friend Heather started them off to tie the knot.

Having picked a certain Scotch just for their wedding ceremony after many tastings, they included a whisky tasting in their ceremony, which was so personal to the two of them. And I am sure it warmed them up as well!

Even with the wind whipping around, you couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful or touching wedding ceremony.

After the ceremony, we had all the time to just enjoy the mountain to ourselves, and let the newly weds revel in the moment and the beauty! They came fully prepared with trail mix, a Jet boil to make a cup of Joe, their special blanket to sit on and a Garmin to track the exact coordinates of their wedding, so that one day, they might hike back up into their wedding location.

But seriously, aren’t these views just epic??

Because the heli package included a second landing, it was opted to go back to the base to drop off the officiant before heading somewhere else for the “money shot” photo, ie. where the helicopter flies behind the couple instead of stationary. The insane winds meant the options for the second landing due to safety were few, but they chose to land at Brule Lake, which provided a very diverse set of images! But like, wow!

After the heli flight, we made a short drive to a local lake for a few quick photos, before Kat and Des headed to a private dinner back at Becker’s Chalet to end off their perfect elopement day.
